Happy Thanksgiving 2021

November 20, 2021

Dear Friend,

It was a year like no other and, thanks to your help, WRIC has remained true to its mission.  Today, our families’ needs have never been greater, and your support has never been more urgent.  We ask that you make a donation to our Annual Appeal.

The pandemic forced us to more urgently confront the digital divide which has been an added obstacle for those struggling to make ends meet.  Thanks to your support, WRIC has been there for those in need.  Our Computer, ESL and Citizenship classes have been a lifeline to so many.  Beyond our classes, we had to become even more creative, and assist those without technology to gain access to computers and Wi-Fi in order to help them help themselves, learn new skills, attend online classes, assist their families with medical appointments, apply for social services, and often, aid their children with online school assignments. We are only able to provide these resources with your generous contributions.

Here are two poignant comments from clients whose lives have been transformed by our work and your financial support:

This past year has been a difficult one for everyone.  I have been unemployed and have had many difficulties staying motivated and focused.  I can't truly express the gratitude I have for WRIC.  I have acquired knowledge through your workshops regarding job readiness and have also felt supported by your staff.  You have contributed to me being able to feel a connection to a bigger picture during times of struggle, isolation and uncertainty.  You have brought light, motivation and hope into my life through your authenticity and kind hearts.

Thank you so much for the laptop.  I appreciate your kindness and the precious gift, which surprised me, because I haven’t received a present from anyone for a really long time. I needed it in order to study ESL and attend computer classes. This helped me tremendously to succeed and connect with other people during the pandemic.  I have always thought that I was computer illiterate and was somewhat afraid of computers.  Through the accessibility of WRIC’s program and with your patience, compassion and skilled teaching, I am now able to say that I understand how Microsoft functions and am able to talk about and understand Excel.  The gift computer, which allowed me to take your courses, because ‘I shouldn't be without a computer in the house!’ just blew me away.

Please donate today so we can continue to help more women and families in need of our vital services.  We wish you a very safe and happy holiday season!
